A word on navigation

Alright, so just a quick word:

For the most part I've eliminated the pages feature. They were a rather inconvenient part of the site that was tiresome to update and I'll bet took ages to load. However you still should be able to find the material you want through the search bar to the top right, or simply by selecting tags which I've been pretty good at staying on top of. I've left up the Art and Favourite Things pages because my updating system for them is a little different than the rest of the topics I address.

Hopefully this won't be to disruptive to your browsing.

As always,
Arbiter Elegantiae

I take it all back

If you've just come from the Tumblr account, ignore this.

BUT for those of you who haven't, here's an update about the site.  After a brief and unsatisfying affair with Tumblr I am crawling back to Blogspot.  While I'm still going to be making changes to the layout and appearance I have learned that Blogspot is simply easier to work with when it comes to labeling posts, sorting material, posting photos, etcetera.

My apologies for the confusion,

Arbiter Elegantiae

P.S. Happy November!

Letter From the Editor

You may have noticed the recent flurry of activity on the site - I've just now posted three new pieces on fashion, as well as a television series review and two articles debating ethical issues.  This is because tomorrow I'm going to be heading out for my grad event so in all likelihood I wont be doing much posting until Saturday or Sunday at the earliest.  Hopefully this will be enough material to pacify you in the meantime; I promise when I get back I'll have photos and stories and I'll get started on Fall fashion.

I also figured I would pass along another update on the site's progress, which every day gives me reason to be happy and grateful.  I have finally reached an audience in South America (Peru and Brazil), which for quite some time was the only continent not visiting the site.  Besides Canada and the United States, readers come from as diverse locations as Britain, France, Switzerland, Denmark, Iran, Italy, Malaysia, Russia, Belarus, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, China, Germany, Sweden, India, Ukraine, Israel, Spain, South Africa, Peru, Brazil, and Mexico.  Your interest has moved the site way up in google searches, from which I am getting more and more referrals by the day.  On a comedic note, I am also getting regular referrals from a site called lolsnaps.info, whose address includes something about Star Wars.  I can't see what the site is though, because apparently people from my country are not allowed.  How strange!  If any of you know what the site is about I'd be interested to know.

To reach such a multinational audience is exhilarating and wonderful, and I am really enjoying receiving your input through your comments.  If you have anything you would like to hear more about or see more of I encourage you to let me know and I'll do my best to incorporate it into the site.  For now I'd just like to say another big thank you for your continued interest and support.  Have a wonderful weekend, I know I will!  - Arbiter Elegantiae

For Your Convenience: Formatting Adjustment

Alright, so in the interest of making your lives easier and your Arbiter Elegantiae experience better, I've made a slight adjustment to my posts.  For those of you who are interested in a specific genre of post I've refined my categories so that you don't have to bother wading through all of the other material.  To be clear, I've gone through and tagged all of my Fashion Forecasts with "Fashion Forecast", so if you follow that link every Fashion Forecast I've posted will come up neatly and you can have a peruse.  It's the same deal for Listening To: if you're only interested in my musical taste it is now easier to skip straight to the good stuff, so to speak.  Anyway, hopefully this will make things a little simpler and more enjoyable.  Keep spreading the word!

Your Two Cents

Alright, so it seems there is some interest in leaving comments.  As such, I'm going to open things up.  Initially I hadn't because I didn't want random negative feedback to deter me.  However, I'm hoping my skin is now thick enough to handle your opinions, which of course are valued.  Be advised that vindictive and prejudiced material will not be posted, so keep it clean kids!  And as always, thanks for reading!

International Surprises

I started this blog with quiet hopes of grandeur and expansion but with solidly realistic expectations: most likely it would be frequented by a small number of my interested friends and the odd person who stumbled upon it by accident.

However, over the last few weeks I have been delighted to notice that what was once contained to Canada and the United States has now spread to Britain, France, Switzerland, Denmark, Iran, Italy, Malaysia, Russia, Belarus, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, China, and most recently Germany.  I am totally delighted!  The growth in readership has encouraged me to be more dedicated and regular about my posting - and I promise I have lots more to come!  If there's any concern I don't have it's that I'll ever run out of material.

What I'm trying to express is my sincere gratitude at your interest.  I will try to do you all justice in the future, and would consider it a wonderful compliment if you were to spread the word about my site.  In the meantime enjoy all the new content!

Update:  welcome to the fold Sweden and India!

Technical Difficulties

Alright, so I think I've started to figure things out a little.  For now, you'll be able to find all my posts on the home page, but if you want to read exclusively on one of the other topics I am re-posting all of them on the appropriate tabs.  Hopefully this is helpful and I don't get sick of it too soon.

A New World

Yes, I know what you're thinking: "Did she just reference the title of that Colin Farrell Pocahontas movie?"  And the answer is yes, yes I did.  It seemed appropriate seeing as starting this blog is inspiring the feelings one might expect upon discovering a whole new world - excitement, certainly, but also some degree of trepidation.  The idea of starting a blog had been crystallizing in my mind for several months now, but it took until today when I realized that EVERYONE is blogging for me to finally cave in to what has been called a supremely self-indulgent practice.  Besides being a useful outlet, I suppose I'm hoping this can be a useful addition to my resume.

Anyway, I suppose the point is that the material I intend on including is.... uh... diverse.  Everything from Runway reviews to posts of my latest manicure to a tirade on how ridiculous some current (and not-so-current) events are.  I'll warn any readers now that I have no intention of pretending to be politically correct, so if a particular rant rubs you the wrong way, go get yourself a tissue and cry it out, because I sure don't give a damn.

At the top of the page you will notice tabs intended to help you zero-in on whatever it is you'd most like to read about.  Over the next few weeks/months (entirely dependent on my attention span and availability) I'll try to get a start on each of the pages to build up a half-decent site.  You also may be wondering about the title which, in case you haven't already googled it, is Latin for "judge in the matters of taste".  I'll have you know I searched long and hard (sort of) for that title, as all the other clever things I could think of were already taken (damn you, fashionphile!).

Bear with me, if you can.
